About Clever Togs
Truly a cottage industry, Clever Togs are designed and produced in a cottage, on a hill in the beautiful Scottish Borders by me, Robin Li Laing
Needle work and embroidery has always been a hobby, for me. I was taught by my Grandmother who sadly died a few days before my daughter, Madeleine, was born in 2006.
After her death, I inherited Gran’s wonderful embroidery threads, so I decided to take up embroidery with a vengeance using my design creations as art therapy. It was a way to be close to Gran, using the skills she gave me. My designs are inspired mostly by Madeleine.
With a bit of practice, both my collection and confidence grew and Clever Togs was born! Since then, I have been adding new ideas and designs to delight all sorts of customers!

When I started Clever Togs, it was very important to me that the company be as ethical and environmentally friendly as possible.
All the t-shirts we use are 100% unbleached organic cotton!
All our t-shirts are ethically produced and made in the UK.
Clever Togs believes in using recycled fabrics; the appliqué fabrics in our designs come from a variety of sources and many are vintage.
A perfect designer piece, hand-crafted and designed in the UK, not mass produced in some sweat shop in the Far East!
